I have been meaning to update my "About Me" page for awhile but I haven't made the time to do it. Today, that changes. I am going to try my hardest to complete Brave Love's Blog-Tember Challenge (although I still haven't finished last year's... #storyofmylife) so with today's prompt being a self-introduction, I am killing two birds with one stone and also updating my "About Me" page!
My name is Aubrey and I am a North Dakota native learning to live and love as God intended. (Colossians 3:23) I moved quite often as a child and, as a result, have something of a nomadic heart. I did not live in the same town as a Starbucks or a shopping mall until college and my parents still live 120 miles from the nearest of either. Now, I am a high school English composition and literature teacher at an international high school in Bangkok, Thailand and I live about four blocks from both a shopping mall and a Starbucks-- my small town self doesn't know what to do.
My journey to Thailand was definitely unexpected but I'm learning to relish in this seemingly accidental season of adventure. While Bangkok is coming to feel more like my home for right now, I still love the magic of looking up to the lights of the city and marveling at the fact I now live in this bustling metropolis. I am no longer in a town of 13 thousand but am instead in a city of 15 million. The city is loud, the streets are dirty, and the language is beyond difficult, but the history runs deep, the culture is so rich, and the Thai people are so beautiful. I am loving this unexpected season of life!
I am a graduate of the University of North Dakota and have penchants for the Minnesota Twins, Franklin Covey, Sheldon Cooper, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Pandora, and a good meal with even better company. My gypsy soul is rarely willing to stay in one place whether this means an evening perusing around the city for the next best coffee shop or a weekend trek via an airplane or night bus. Other more-or-less essentials in my life are a long-sleeved shirt (I am always cold), a strong cup of coffee (preferably an iced Americano), and the undying prospect of adventure (anywhere is good with me). I cannot whistle and I am repulsed by olives of any variety, but I can say the alphabet backwards and I make a pretty mean apple pie.
Soli deo gloria.
Oh my goodness- so neat! For a second I was like.. WAIT! DID SHE JUST SAY SHE LIVES IN THAILAND?! Ha! :) Looking forward to following along with your Blogtember Challenge! XO
Oh my goodness, Thailand?! That's incredible. I can't wait to read more about your adventures there! I'm a huge Sheldon Cooper fan, as well. Most of my nights are spent watching reruns of Big Bang Theory. :)
Love your intro. I LONG to travel to Thailand (deep, soul-led longing). Hoping to get some vicarious highlights of it from your blog! So glad I hopped across from Blog-tember!
I love that you live in Thailand! How did you end up moving there?
NCIS. Yes. I love watching it!
